Why isn't my Nexus 6 on Verizon IMEI being recognized?

Nexus 6 on Verizon IMEI Not Recognizing

I have a Nexus 6 device that I purchased right from Google Play and I have a Verizon Nano Sim card already activated on the phone. However when I log into Verizon it shows the device as a NON-VZW Device as registered to my account instead of showing up as the Nexus 6. I tried putting in my phone's IMEI number to activate the device so it's listed on my account but it won't work. Do I have to wait until Verizon officially releases it on the 18th before their system can recognize the Nexus 6 on my account?

Because pretty much Verizon is evil. They not only want you to pay the highest prices and give you the least amount of data for what you get, "Hey we say we have the best data coverage. Just don't plan on actually enjoying it!", they don't really want you to bring the Nexus 6 over from other sources outside of them.
