Why isn't my OnePlus-One phone charging fully to 100?

OnePlus-One: phone not charging fully to 100%

just got my phone last wednesday. its a great phone but realized it wouldnt charge past 97% at all...anyone have this happen to them or have a fix? contacted oneplus but itll be days before i hear from them.

Unplug, restart, and look at your battery % - I had a phone once that would get to 100%, but wouldn't register.

Edit: do this when you're sure it should be at 100%.

I noticed something similar. I got my phone on Friday last week. I unplug it, use it for a few minutes and plug it back in and it will go to 100%. I will say that the battery life has been very good so far.

Thanks for reaching out. This is a common issue with all LiPo batteries, don't worry. I would suggest power cycling your phone three times. Just follow these steps:

1. Let your OnePlus One completely run out of power, until it shuts down.

2. Plug in your OnePlus One to charge continuously, uninterrupted for at least 6 hours.

3. Repeat step 1 and step 2 for three consecutive charge cycles and your OnePlus One should reach 100% when fully charged.

One final suggestion, it might be best to do step 2 overnight to conveniently allow your phone to charge completely uninterrupted.

Absolutely not. I've heard of issues doing that. ANY phone that
doesn't have a removable battery, you don't want to let it hit 0%

The OnePlus One has a removable battery - in any other possible situation there is an extremely slim chance you are correct. These batteries build memory just like any other rechargeable. By cycling it through once or twice you demonstrate to the battery and circuitry what is dead, and what is fully charged. Doing this repeatedly will reduce overall battery life, but twice through will make an unnoticeable difference in battery life.
