Why isn't my Samsung Galaxy Tab responding to the power button and why is it making a loud buzzing?

Samsung galaxy Tab not responding to power button making loud buzzing

This is a borrowed tablet. All I was doing was turning off running apps I did not need at time.

suddenly loud consistent buzzing and no response to touch screen or holding down power button at all.

Now is under pillows and blankets to muffle noise. Sounds like a machine running in other room.

I do not have the option of doing a hard reset because it is a borrowed tablet...cannot erase owners stuff etc. I believe this is a number 2 Gal rtab but not sure

Welcome to Android Central! Well that doesn't sound right.

How long did you hold the Power button down for? To force a power off, you usually have to hold it for a good 10-15 seconds until it shuts off.
