Why isn't my Samsung s5 recognizing my mini SD card anymore?

A

AC Question

I had been using my micro SD card with my Samsung s5 for about 4 months when I traveled abroad and inserted a local SIM card for 3 months. Now that I am home I reinserted my original SIM card and have noticed that the phone isn't recognizing the micro SD card. When I check the Storage settings it says, "Insert SD card." I have tried taking it out and reinserting it a few times but it hasn't helped. There are a lot of files on there that I'd like to access so I'd rather not reformat the card. How can I fix this problem?

Welcome to Android Central! The card may have become corrupt. Remove the card and insert it into your computer's reader. Does the computer recognize it? If not, the card is unfortunately dead, and your data is probably lost. You could try one of the methods here, but they may not work, since the card usually has to be recognized in the first place: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...-s/500142-guide-recovering-deleted-files.html
