why my selfie stick is not working on my andriod htc?

i buy a selfie stick i plug it in on my phone but it's not working

Welcome to Android Central! Open the Camera app, tap the Settings icon, and look for an option to make the Volume button be the shutter release. If your camera app can't do this, then the selfie stick won't work correctly. In that case, you could try a 3rd party camera app that does give you the option to use the Volume button.
