Why isn't the SD card in my Samsung Galaxy J5 not being recognized?

[AC Question]

I''ve been using a SD card in my samsung galaxy J5 since i got it in january and its suddenly not appearing anywhere on the phone. i hadn't removed it prior to it stopping working but since its stopped i have removed cleaned and restarted the phone - and its still not finding it!

help please!

Could be simply the SD card is failing. What brand is it?

Welcome to Android Central! The SD card could be corrupt, defective, or counterfeit. Install SD Insight to see if the card is genuine or counterfeit. Counterfeit cards are programmed to report more storage than they actually have, and if you try saving more than the card can actually hold, then files can start getting corrupt.


If it's a valid card, then go to Settings>Storage, Unmount the card, remove it, and insert it into your computer. Can the computer read these files? Backup as much as you can right now, then run chkdsk to look for bad sectors: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...guide-using-chkdsk-fix-corrupted-sd-card.html.

If neither the phone nor the computer can detect the card, then it's dead--get a new one.

I had the same issue take the SD card out of your phone and make sure it's even in the frame and put it back in restart it you should be good is there something else going on what are the card has been damaged but most likely not

Samsung J5s are sd card restricted. (I hear its a 'manufactures' choice but suspect the os) Its mis-sold as the restriction isn't mentioned pre-sale. Complain to your supplier and get rid or root.

Have you tried another card? Maybe your card is not supported. Mine works perfectly

The SD card slot is loose or the SD card is damaged.Pls use the Genuine SD card.
