Hey guys,

Got my new refurb here ... but I can't seem to get it to boot into 3G. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? I did ##778# to turn off "eprd" (if that's the right label) - nothing. I can't get anything but 1x.

Any ideas?

Just had a similar problem, turned out to be a bad sim card..

Well it looks like that might very well right correct here too! I just put it back into the old phone and 1X is all I can get all of a sudden there too. WTF.

So what's the solution - bring it into Verizon?

If you go in they'll give you a new sim right there. Or you can call and get one shipped.

And, because I'm an idiot and don't know as much as I should ;-), they have to "format" or code that SIMM right? My understand is that it's my "identity", so I expect that they'll have to put that identity on there while I wait ...

UPDATE - thanks for everybody's help and input!

I don't know what was happening last night, but my 3G is fine now. No new SIMM needed. Turned off WiFi and boom, there's 3G, no problem. Weird!

That's by design. When you're connected to Wifi data, RF data automatically turns off.

Sorry Frank, I wasn't clear. RF was definitely off when Wifi was on. But when WiFi went off last night, all I could get to come up was 1X, and that includes a period when I was out of the house. The concern was that I had a SIMM card problem, but apparently not.

Wonder if you were near an "unsecured" Wifi that it automatically hooked up to? Or, maybe more likely, by toggling Wifi on/off you actually restet the radios just as if you went into Airplane mode and toggled it on/off. Or, restarted.
