They're showing UWB not 5GThat would be strange considering some phones are showing 5G already

I understand what you're saying, not saying they're wrong but I am in a Nationwide area that has 5G and I do not have it on my phone so it's impossible that they do. Verizon has even said as much which also makes sense as google doesn't advertise it as being compatible either it just says the Pixel 5 will get Sub-6 (Coming soon). There are people in this thread saying they are not in a wideband area and their phone shows 5g.

Yeah that was my assumption when they said November update, hopefully google includes itI guess we will see what happens today. The November update should be released today.
I just chatted with vzw tech support. They told.me.my phone has a 4g sim in it and that's why I don't get 5g signal. The sim.came with my phone so I don't know if that's true or not.
That was my exact experience. Tier 1 support said I needed a new sim, but I was later contacted and told to call Tier 3 support to have my existing sim provisioned for 5g. I had this done. Curiously, before the provisioning, I briefly saw a 5g icon but it would not stay connected. After the provisioning, I have not seen any 5g. I checked again with support and they said the provisioning had gone through. For now, I'm going to wait this issue out. Maybe I'm just not getting a strong enough 5g signal to connect to, even though it shows me in a decent 5g area. That's false.... You don't need a 5G SIM to pick up Nationwide 5G. I am picking up 5G with my LTE SIM. I don't have UltraWideBand in my area and I would have to pay extra on my plan anyway. I spoke with Verizon about getting a new SIM and was told I won't need it for UWB either. They would provision it. I won't know if that's true until it happens but that's what I was told.
I got this same reply from support. I don't believe it. There seem to be some issues with either the icon, or actually connecting to sub-6 5g.Are you seeing a 5G indication on your phone? I just received my Pixel 5. It came with a SIM that I activated. I have been through several 5G areas, and never saw the indication change from LTE. I went by a store today, and the Rep said that I will only see a change when I go into an UltraWideband area - then it will show UW. Who knows if that is accurate???
We used the SIM that came with the phone from Google in my wife's Pixel 5. And it always displayed LTE...until the November security update rolled out finally. After updating & rebooting it has displayed 5G pretty consistently. We don't live in a mmWave 5G area, just their 5G Nationwide. There is definitely a lot of confusion among Verizon reps and support agents as to what should happen, when, where, etc.I got this same reply from support. I don't believe it.
