Ok Im pretty new to Android, have been an iOS user since iPhone1, always jailbroken, but I really cant get any info on why I would need to root my transformer........does it actually add anything?

I root my Android phones to remove all the bloatware. Since you are coming from iOS, you didn't have to deal with all the extra stuff carriers put on. I'm on Verizon and they load up the phone with a ton of stuff like their VCast applications, CityID, games and other stuff. And it can't be uninstalled. So I root to gain admin access and remove what I don't want.

Another reason I root is so I don't have to pay the 20 bucks a month to have a mobile hotspot or for tethering.

You can also do things like install custom ROMS.

I haven't had a need to root my Asus. I like plain vanilla Android, and happy with it the way it is.

Rooting allows root access for applications that require it. The only reason to root is for a) applications that need root access or b) bragging.

If you dont have any applications that require root access then there is zero need to root the tablet and it will do literally nothing for you.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I figured....I jailbreak my iPhone because it sucks with all the apple lock downs. I haven't run in to any lockdowns with Android yet except that I cant watch netflix or use skype video........
