Why SD card app data from old phone empty

Hello everyone, thanks so much for your help. My Samsung Note8 was destroyed, but the SD card was perfectly fine and contained all of my recent photos, videos and voice recordings. It also has app files under data. My Note8 was security protected for logging in to the phone, but of course I couldn't unlock my phone and access the SD card. I've transferred the SD card to an old S8, but all of the files on the SD card are empty. What I really really want to see is if my notes were saved to the SD card, but so far I can't see them. Any ideas how to see the files on the SD card or make them available to view on the new phone? Thanks so much again!

Removing a card without first Unmounting may cause problems. Try the card in a PC rather than your new phone.

If the card was encrypted by your phone the files wouldn't be visible on another device.
