Android Central Question

My Motorola Moto G 2nd ed. has limited amount of internal memory (8GB), I constantly need to clear cached data and reboot to make enough space for updates. I have 32GB USB card that is half empty. I've tried to move everything possible to SD Card (wthout formatting it as internal) and force all possible apps to use SD card as storage (including camera).

While in search of what actually uses my internal memory I'm told I use 8MB for Images. Clicking the images I see all the images on my SD card!

Just supposing I would like to free that 8MB from Internal and would select all (955) images and delete them, what would happen? I know they won't fit into 8MB, but still: why the images are displayed under Internal Storage? Is the DCIM-folder on Internal Storage a symbolic link?

Welcome to Android Central! It's probably thumbnails of the photos you moved to the SD card. The system creates thumbnails of your photos automatically as you view them in your gallery app. They're located in the /DCIM/.thumbnails directory (if you can't find it, make sure your file manager is set to show hidden folders/files).

You can delete the thumbnails, but be aware that the system will generate them again. Remember that 8 MB is comparatively little space -- it's about the size of 2-3 full-sized photo files.
