I still can not decide but why should I sign with a contract and have a second line witch means my friends will have to choose from two numbers to send me a text and also I have the Htc Evo with mobile hot spot that I have been using with my iPad.

Thanks...

A simple Google Voice account solves that issue. They call one Google voice number and the server will call all your phones at once. You can even set it to ring certain phones. There are lots of different options. You can even daizy chain it.

Why indeed would ANYONE sign a contract for the TAB? Most data plans on tabs are limited- while tethering plans on the same carriers are NOT. IF you have an EVO- why not just tether at 4G speeds for the same price as a contract- and for FASTER speeds and unlimited data?

I have to wonder WHY if you have an ipad you felt the need for a 7" tablet that costs almost just as much though...

but hey- regardless, I'm jealous.

For more toys but any ways I live the ipad but it is big at times and I think the 7" would be nicer at times plus I do like the Android software.

I didn't do a contract, but I am going to pay for data monthly. Why? Convenience, that's the entire point. If I have to tether off my phone I have to set that up every time, have to watch my battery life to be sure I won't drain it off before I tether, do all before I start using the tab, etc. That just makes it inconvenient. I'd rather drop back to a flip phone and use the tab for data than do that.

I thought of that to, I'm with Sprint and $60.00 5gb and $30.00 for 2gb Im not sure how quick I will use them up ?

I have been using an Evo but plan to get a Tab. Is there any way I can find out how much data I have been using on my Evo?

Dial *2 and check your sprint account...data usage will be at the bottom of your detailed account usage

Ok I just got off the phone with Sprint and with a full month's usage on my Evo with Mobile Hotspot i'm abought 1.5gb Its less then I thought. I do not down load a bunch of stuff more just internet surf so know I think I may cancel my mobile hot spot and that will cover the new line.

That's a fun data calculator- I guess the bulk of you don't listen to the Android Central Podcast weekly? I listen to about 3+hours of other podcasts weekly- and that still doesn't consider Pandora streamed music. I blow 2GB a month EASILY before I even begin to webbrowse... and I have an Epic- so no flash browser yet (and skyfire sucks). When I had EVO for a month I did 2GB in flash enabled web browsing alone- so you really think on a TABLET you're going to what- read this forum only all day long?

Limited data contracts on a tablet is a joke IMHO but to each their own...

For Verizon there's an app already installed that gives you a widget that shows you your data usage. Since most places I'm at for a regular period of time have free wireless I'm actually surprised at how little I data I use in-between. I don't stream stuff though, just surf a lot and occasionally use logmein. And you can bump the level at any time if you think you're going to go over, then do the lesser level again the next month. I don't know about the other carriers though.

If you want to save $200 upfront go with a plan, if you use your evo to connect to the internet and you're spending $30 a month on that I'd probably just buy it off contract... you will save a lot more in the long run :)
