Why Should We Get the New Note 8 Gear VR When the S8 Gear VR Works Just Fine with the Note 8?

I'm looking to get VR for the Note 8 and I'm reading in multiple places that the Gear VR for the S8 works just fine for the Note 8, albeit a slight snug fit. I even think the 2016 Gear VR also works for the Note 8 as well.

So what benefit do you get with spending more for the Note 8 VR? From my understanding, the optics and everything VR related is the same for both models and only the physical chassis of the actual VR is different (to accommodate the larger size of the Note 8) Also, I think the Note 8 Gear VR doesn't have volume buttons on the unit itself (which is interesting). However, from all accounts, the S8 Gear VR works for the Note 8.

I just tried mine from my old S8. It sort of fits, but the one end doesn't quite snap in all the way. I loaded the software and it works, but I'm concerned about my phone popping out and breaking...

It doesn't fully snap in place like in the video above (at the 2:50 mark)? That guy is also using the S8 Gear VR with the Note 8.

I think I saw a discussion on here about the gear VR not working with a Note 8 unless you ordered the new gear VR? I received one with my S8 plus back in May which has the controller with it and I got it out today and it worked on my Note 8 so should it be okay to use with the Note 8 or should I not? I didn't have to force it on there at all so that's why I'm asking because it's a waste for me to have it if it's really shouldn't be used with the Note 8
