Why Tab s3 over iPad Pro?

I recently bought an iPad Pro 9.7 and while it's a good device, I honestly am a bit underwhelmed by it. But I got it because I didn't really see much in the Android space.

As I'm thinking about selling it for an Android Tablet I've come across the Tab s3.

What do you like about it (especially in comparison to an iPad)?

For me multi-window feels better on the Tab S3 than it did on the iPad, but the iPad has the advantage of better optimized apps for iOS on a tablet, unfortunately (and that includes apps that just aren't on Android). The S-Pen feels better and more precise, and you have the button to help with some actions and shortcuts, and at least on my tests, I got better life battery (SCREEN-ON TIME, NOT STANDBY!) with the Tab.

It boils down to where you've invested your time and money. If you have all your apps and data in iOS/Apple, moving to an Android tablet will prove challenging and might require you to buy apps again (and some you might not have available).

Thanks for your input.

Yeah...I've got nothing invested in Apple in terms of apps. Haven't owned an iPad in like 5 yrs and even then it was a hot second.

Only thing I don't like too much about the Tab, though, is the glass. It looks AMAZING and the thing is super thin and light...but it's sooooo slippery and prone to fingerprints on its own! So yeah, a case is a must or a glass protector with a bit of a 'grip' for the back panel.

It's a preference thing, for certain. Like saying Samsung or Iphone. There are plenty of people who are hard-core on either side, some may like both.

Me? I really, really like the Samsung devices and the Android OS. I'm very familiar with it and really like the level of customization I can do on the tablet and on my Note 8 phone. Love the size of the Tab S3 and it pairs really well with my Note 8 and my bluetooth keyboard.

Maybe part of it is that I don’t have any Apple devices though I am familiar with them. Maybe it’s just about familiarity and wanting a consistent feel across devices. I dunno

While we don't have an iPad Pro, we do have an iPad Air 2 on Verizon, and I do like things about the iPad over my Tab S3...app selection and app presentation in some cases on the iPad is a little better IMO, battery life seems better, iOS is definitely very smooth, making the overall experience mostly hastle free and just easy and simple. But with the Tab S3, I love being able to use a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, love the customization with Android, I'm much more familiar and comfortable and just like using Android better, like the s-pen (I have a Note 8 as well), and the screen is amazing.

One more thing I didn't mention. I have the Pro 9.7 inch model. It feels too small to me (understand that I'm coming from a Surface Pro 4.)

I think I good medium might be the 10.5 inch model. It's the size and not the operating system that's bothering me.

Not being an iPad owner for several years and now trying one out, I realize that this device just isn't for me.

Tab S4 is rumored to be 10.5.
I might look into that one once Verizon has them - they may be doing a special for upgrading. I have my Tab S3 through them, and my phone lines through Tmobile. Only reason I don't have the TabS3 with Tmobile - they don't offer it.

Out of curiosity, what do you use your tablet for that requires cellular access?
I use mine for work sometimes but I'm not paying a data plan to do it.

Well honestly I rarely use the data. I got it through Verizon so I could make the payments on it vs paying in full.

I use it for work email and all sorts of personal stuff. Gives my phone a break.

Not sure in your country but here where I am I can stick a prepaid sim in it and pay 1USD for 24hrs of data.

I understand, thanks.
