Why might my Nexus 7 tablet not be recognized by my desktop computer?

When I plug it in via USB cable, the tablet charges; but in Windows Explorer, which shows all computer drives, it is not showing up. This started a few days ago. Before then, it showed up when it was plugged in via the USB cable.

I want to be able to upload files from the desktop to the tablet.

It's your cable. Same thing happened to me. Your ASUS power charger probably won't charge soon either. The Asus cable and charger are flimsy. After a while they don't connect. I invested in a new cable from Monoprice and a charger from New Trent and all problems solved.
