Why wont Google Play download the facebook app?

I have a Galaxy S4. Recently I had an SD card stop working so I transferred the files to a new one. This solved earlier issues with my phone, except Facebook would not open. Every other app works fine. I deleted the Facebook app, downloaded it again, and it still would not open. I deleted the app again and now every time I try to download it on Google Play, the download reaches 95% and stays there. I have restarted the phone several times. How can I fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! Did you also delete any directory associated with Facebook on the SD card before you tried to reinstall it?

Try also going to the App Manager, select Google Play Store, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Do the same for Download Manager. Now try again.

How much internal storage do you have? Facebook's android app requires a lot of space to download. It is a bloated app that just builds up and takes up more and more space. If you don't have much storage left, you may want to use Facebook in the browser. It will save you alot more space.

Yesterday it happend the samne thing to me.. facebook app wasn't opening (white or black screen when launching it): after unistalling there was no way the reinstall it.. the download always stuck at 95%

After deleting facebook folders, clearing cache and data and forcing stop (after clicking the "stop" button it didn't disabled as it does when you succefully stop a process) for google play store and download manager, it is still blocking at 95% of the download

It also looks like there's a background process making the phone stuck for just a second (or something) regurarly, like an app retrying doing something..

All this started yesterday afternoon, don't know if there was any update the phone downladed and installed..

Available space on my phone(S4 mini): 2.75 Gb

Please help!

Are you downloading via wifi or using your data?



Uninstall facebook and reinstall. reboot your phone and try again.

Also, how long are you waiting for the install to complete? The Facebook app takes by far the longest time to install. I should time it next time, but it feels like it sometimes takes several minutes to actually install.

update folks: I have fixed it

it was fb messenger: once unistalled everything restarted working fine...

since I had one message in queue, it was repeadetly trying to notify it, freezing the phone every minute for a second, and also, probably fb app to update itself must first shut down messenger, that's why at 95% it was stuck: it was not the downaload itself, but the fact that the installation could not progress further since messenger was not responding.

Thanks for your suggestion! my fb would also stop at 95%. I uninstalled messenger and then installed fb. FB started working.
