Why won't my APK file install an app?

my apk file wont install the app

Hello, i have downloaded an apk file, when i pressed the install button it was installing, but after a few seconds it gives me an error message saying "application was not installed". I dont know it does this but i have an LG optimus L9 and i never had a problem with that. Please help me

This means that the app is not compatible with your phone. If your phone is rooted and you are desperate, edit the build prop so it looks like a Nexus 5. There is stuff on how to do that on the internet.
