Why won't my Galaxy S3 turn on?

My Galaxy S3 won't turn on

My Galaxy S3 was working fine, I was using calculator. It went idle and when I tried to turn it on, it wouldn't turn on. The blue light on upper left corner is flashing, but it won't turn on no matter how long I hold down the button to start it.

Welcome to Android Central.

The battery may have failed. In a way, that would be good, because the fix is simple and not expensive.

Well, thanks to a friend, when I related the problem he was able to help me. He told me to take the back of the phone off, remove the battery for about a minute, then put it back in and the cover back on. It started working after that.
