Why won't my Galaxy S5 phone charge while turned on?

my galaxy s5 phone wont charge while turned on.help?

i have a galaxy s5 and a few days ago while i was charging my phone i started to hear a sizzling sound like something burning and i realized it was the USB in the charging port. i top it out immediately and it still charges but it only charges when it's turned off and when it's on it shows the little lighting strike on it but it's not really charging when plugged in(FYI it does not still have the charging symbol when not plugged in) i really some help do i replace the battery or the phone. or is there nothing i can do?

Welcome to Android Central! It's either the USB cable or the port. Have you tried different cables? If none of them work correctly, then the port probably got damaged partially. You'd have to bring it to a repair shop, or contact Samsung if still under warranty.
