Why won't my Galaxy Tab 3 play videos?

Galaxy Tab 3 will not play videos

I have tried mp4, avi, flv and in different configurations. I've converted the videos in mp4, mkv, x264. Nothing works. I'm sure the tablet plays them, I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Could it be the resolution? I use 1280 x 720. I haven't tried anything lower. Also, I have many different apps to play them and none work. VLC, MX Player, Video Player for Android, FLV Video Player, HD Video Player, Media Player.

I'd really appreciate any help.

I do own a galaxy tab 3 and looking up the specs I found these should be the supported formats: WMV9, WMV7, WMV8, H.264, MPEG4, DivX, H.263, VP8.
For example when I record a video with the camera, this creates a .mp4 with 1280x720 resolution. So the resolution should not be the problem.
The recorded video was in codec H264 - mpeg4 avc.
