Why won't my music play

I have a number of my CDs on my computer but when I transfer them to my galaxy s6 it says they can't play. What is wrong?

Re: Why won't my music play

What file type are you saving your music as, mp3 or something else?

Re: Why won't my music play

I have a similar problem. I have a Galaxy Core Prime, and when I transferred my music files from my old phone to my Galaxy, many would say "Unknown" and refuse to play, even though they played just fine on my old phone.

Then I tried to sync my library to the phone using Windows Media Player, MediaMonkey, and even (shudder) iTunes. But I got the same results. It's frustrating because I spent a lot of money on this phone and except for this one problem, I like the phone. Especially because I get to use my 64GB card finally. Any advice would be helpful.

What are the file types? Mp3? If it's mp3 it should work. The only thing I can think is that the files are not mp3 and may have copyright protection coded in.

They are, in fact, mp3. And since I purchased the music, should I not be allowed to transfer it to any device I so choose?

That's like buying a car in San Diego and not being allowed to drive it to Bakersfield!

How do I get my LEGALLY PURCHASED music to play on my LEGALLY PURCHASED phone?

Did you buy the music from Google? I think they do limit where you can copy it unfortunately.

Re: Why won't my music play

Google, Amazon, iTunes, a lot of different places over a long period of time. I jumped on downloads early on, almost completely bypassing CD's, going from cassette tape straight to digital.

There should be laws against that. In fact, there would be if it weren't for the lobbyists for the recording studios bribing Republicans in Congress to pass laws restricting yet another one of our freedoms.

There has to be a way, a program somewhere, that can be used to circumvent such illegal and unethical restrictions and return the freedom to use MY music in any way I want to.

Re: Why won't my music play

Amazon mp3s can be copied without any problems I think. Test one of those and see if it can be played.

The problem isn't the files. The problem is the phone.

All of my music files worked on my last one.

Most of of those same files do not work on this phone.

Ergo, it is Samsung that is the problem.

Hi, apparently the problem seems to be that Windows sends them to GC Prime as a .WMA file.
I too had a different Samsung device before and it played these files just fine - not the Core Prime it seems! It's so annoying. My mobile provider suggests I download a music player which can handle those files. grrrr!:-\

... and yes, I believe MP3 files should work; will let you know! Bizarrely, my wife's cheap mp3 player handles the Windows Media files just fine!

I have the same problem but with a catch:

Two daughters, two Galaxy Core Primes

Same MP3 files.

Everything works fine on one Gal CP and nothing works on the other.

What is different? Some setting has to be different but which one?
