Nexus 6 screen won't turn on during call

I have had my Nexus 6 for a while now and haven't had any problems with it. But since updating android to 5.1 I can no longer turn on my screen during a phone call. I can't hang up, hit any numbers or anything else. I changed the setting so when I hit the power button it ends the call. But I am still left with the problem of not being able to hit any keys so I can't check my voicemail anymore. I tried doing a factory reset and I am still left with that same problem.

I'm having the same issue. I didn't have any problems with the screen turning on before the 5.1 update and it's not my screen protector like many have suggested. I'm unable to make calls to automated services that require inputting numbers, or hanging up.

Re: Nexus 6 screen won't turn on during call

I have done a bit of testing on my end since posting this,

If I call my voicemail by holding 1 I can turn my screen on by tapping on it.
If I make a phone call I can not turn the screen on
If I make a phone call and have headphones plugged in then the screen works normally
However if I unplug them the screen shuts off again, until I plug them back in again.

I am experiencing exactly the same issue, whenever i'm in a call the screen will turn off, and won't come back until the call is finished (usually when the other person hangs up). This is a big issue specially when calling a voicemail because I can't hang up, or when calling a company where I have to dial numbers. I'm currently running stock Android 6.0 on Nexus 6.
