Why wont my phone let me change my text display?

So whenever I get onto my ZTE Max messaging settings and try to change it to bubble it will constantly till me that unfortunately messaging has stopped.

Welcome to Android Central! Does that persist after a reboot? If so, then try going to Settings>Apps>All, select Messaging, and Clear Cache, then try again.
