Why won't my phone let me swipe up to access home screen?

I have an S8 on Tmobile and just updated. I just had to restart my phone to get out after opening the clock because I can't go home. Restarting did not help. Now I'm stuck here, no home, no back. Nothing happens when I swipe up

Try wiping the cache partition. It doesn't cause data loss. Wiping the cache is a good idea after an update anyway.
