Why won't my Samsung Edge charge

My cellphone was charged when I went to bed and I woke up and it will not turn on. I have it charging and it still does not turn on. For the amount of $$$ I spent on this I should not have this issue 5 months into owning the phone. Any help is appreciated.

Unplug the device and remove the battery for 10 minutes. Put the battery back in and charge the device for a few minutes then try powering back on. Let us know if that helps.

Try using a different cord. Also is it showing anything on the screen when you plug it in?
