Samsung Galaxy S3 i9305 wont charge since Kit Kat update

So the other night I got prompted to update my phone to the latest software and did so. This has turned out to be a massive mistake as now my phone is broken as hell. The problem is it just wont recognize that it's plugged in to the charger. No icon, no light, no charging. I've tried many things such as cleaning the usb port of lint and wiping the cache to no avail. My battery charges fine if I put it in my girlfriends s3 which is still on Jelly Bean and I literally had 0 issues with the phone until the moment I updated it. I've tried using the official samsung charger to a wall socket, the cable to my computer and an after market charger and they all do nothing.

After the update my phone was acting really strange, constantly powering on and telling me that it was connected to the charging dock when it wasnt plugged in (making the charging noise as well) and spamming me with error notifications (cant remember specifically what). But pretty much even before I realized it didnt charge, the kit kat update was wreaking havoc on my phone.

I'm at a loss of what to do. I'm not buying a new phone, and I'm not with a provider as I bought it outright. I know it's a samsung/android problem anyway so harassing a provider wouldn't do any good anyway. Is it possible to downgrade back to Jelly Bean and turn off updates? The only thing on the phone I want to save are my photos and contacts, apps can just be redownloaded.

Thanks in advance

Have you tried a factory data reset?

Just did, didnt work.

Also spoke with samsung and all they could advise was try the reset otherwise they dont know.

I have a similar problem. When my i9305 was on 4.3 it all worked properly but now the normal 1amp car charger works either intermittently or not at all. Interestingly I have a .750 mAh car charger from my Jabra Cruiser bluetooth handsfree which does work, however, it does not charge phone fast enough to keep up with data connection being on for sat nav and bluetooth so battery just runs down on phone. I have checked this with various different cables that I have and it's the same result every time. 1 Amp charger does not work or works for a bit and then cuts out .750mAh charger works but is no good to keep up with data connection and bluetooth when switched on. Samsung say that it it must be a hardware issue and that their experts say that it it is not to do with KitKat 4.4.4 but the internet is full of the same problem. Complete lack of integrity by Android and Samsung. These people create problems and then hide. It is appalling.
