Why won't my software update continue downloading after being paused?

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and I am trying to upgrade the software to the latest security patch (released 1 September 2019).

I started downloading the update but paused it, and am now trying to continue the download so I can finish updating the software; but when I click "Continue", it says "Please wait" at the bottom of the screen before not doing anything.

I've tried restarting and shutting down and turning on the phone several times, and nothing has worked.

Please help me fix it! :)

Try going into recovery and clear cache

I have the same problem which happened to my Note 8 yesterday. Tried to restart the device and putting it off and on several times, but didnt help.

I went to the startup boot screen "volume up +bixby + power button" cleared the system cache, and didnt work.

The notification shows download paused, in system settings it shows 00:00:00 time left when i press on resume download it says "please wait" and i've been waiting for the last 24 hours with no solutions yet.

This might require to connect to smart swich which i tried but didnt work could be due to the restrictions on the laptop i have in hands. Have to check on own laptop to see if this will work out.

Ok,go into settings >apps>upper right corner tap 3 dots > system apps tap> scroll to software update , should be 2 and clear cache,data,force stop each .
 
It sounds like a Samsung problem. The phone considers a paused update to be complete - which, of course, it isn't.

Go to Settings, search for feedback and send them feedback about it.
 
My Samsung s8 has been stuck on a paused download for over a month now always says please wait was u able to fix yours

Which carrier? Have you tried any diagnostic steps?

I have total wireless which runs off Verizon.
I have tried everything listed but working on going through my laptop using smart switch have to charge phone a bit more first to see if that works. After that factory reset is all the options I see listed in thread which I will hate to go through that

Ok try that first see what happens with smart switch.
 
I wiped the cache and now I've got to make room in storage in order to update it through the laptop and I work so might be awhile before I get around to it. I'll let u know
