Why won't my tablet let me type any text, it simply switches off the app?

my tablet wont let me type any text it simply switches off the app

my Samsung tablet wont let me text anything the touch screen works properly, however when i try to text, it simply stops the application and closes it, taking me to the home screen. please help

Welcome to Android Central!

Try going in to your settings, application manager, all apps, and find the messaging application. Clear the data from the app and see if that fixes it. You might lose your text messages but it might fix the problem.
