Android Central Question

When using the S-Pen there is about a 1/4"-1/2" space in the middle of the screen the runs from the left edge to the right edge of the screen where it will not write. For example if I take the pen and start at the bottom of the screen and go to the top, and back to the bottom, and back to the top - there is a section in the middle where it does not write.
I read that in earlier versions of the Note, users who had a magnetic case, had this problem. When they removed the case it worked. I wish that was my fix - but I do not have a case!
Any help appreciated - Thanks!!!

Okay, welcome as a new member. :)

I’ll move the thread to that forum.

As a random question do you have a screen protector on..many screen protectors have a gap in the middle where the screen and the protector don't touch and this can cause latency issues.

I picked up 2 other note 8's the same week, same screen protector ZAGG invisible, and they don't have issues.

what about magnets? I found on note 3 magnets would cause dead spots so I stopped using them. only on the notes though, didn't effect my S5 or G3.

Case with a magnet? Like a wallet case or something?

no case - no magnets :-(
Do you have a screen protector? I had one that worked great, but someone used my phone and cracked the protector. I replaced it with the ZAGG and it was awful. I got rid of it after two weeks - too many dead spots.

Yes I have the ZAGG, put it on all 3 phones. But mine is the ONLY one having issues. That 1/4 inch line from left side to right side across the middle.

If you have the need to tap in that area, does the device respond to the tap. You might also try taping with the stylus in that band and see if it picks up the tap. Let us know what you find.

So, since the S-Pen doesn't work in that area and the phone doesn't recognize a tap in that area and you have no magnetic interruption. The last thing that I would recommend trying is removing the screen protector and seeing if that makes a difference. If it is a Zagg, then you can get a replacement, otherwise... If you still have the issue without the screen protector on the phone, then you have a bad display and should return the device for another. If removing the screen protector works, then you had a bad screen protector and that is easily remedied (but usually not cheaply.) Let us know what happens.

My guess is that the digitizer has gone bad / broke... Experienced some pressure in that area maybe. Basically looking at a screen replacement that includes the digitizer.
