well i have a fascinate but basic features you could do is, freeze all preinstalled carrier apps that were applied to make the phone more responsive, you could use things like screen shot apps, or backup your whole system using titanium backup, but if you are not looking for any of that or are not interested in putting custom operating system or themes etc... then i wouldnt bother doing it , if you are satisfied with the way your phone is and you are not comfortable rooting then why bother doing it.

the fact that you are even asking means you are not to interested. rooting is usually not difficult and the risks are not very high. but if you are uncomfortable doing it will probably leave you with more anxiety than its worth.

well good luck with whatever you decide

Maybe out of curiosity, other than that... I don't really see the significance(IMO).

Maybe to mess around with your phone... I guess. Unrooted and I'm having a ton of fun. Good luck on the decision you make. You could read THIS. it might help you to decide on what to do.

one big reason would be to get wifi hotspot without extra charge! now some would say that this is illegally obtaining service, but I am already paying for 5ghz of data and I'm not about to pay another $25 when I don't use all the data I've allready paid for!
Cheers!

Having superuser access is a very usefull thing even for an average user. Having the ability to do back up of your device content and rebooting your device without removing your battery is a good thing to have.

If you are doing the Froyo leaked update that also includes a root built in then you get the benefits of Froyo as well as your phone being rooted.
