Why would a sent message still appear in italics like a draft on my end and not be delivered?

[Android Central Question]

I'm on a moto g7 plus with Republic Wireless. I have one friend with an iPhone. Sometimes when I text her, the "sent message" still shows up in italics like it's a draft and she doesn't receive the text message. Text messages go out to everyone else okay including other friends with iPhones.

I can't resend the "sent message", but if I send another message, sometimes it will go through. It's really hit or miss. If it happens again, I will make a screenshot. Inside the text thread, the message looks normal but I know it wasn't received. On the screen that shows all text threads, the text to my friend is italicized just like a draft and the "sent" time won't update.

Might not do anything, but it won't hurt to clear the app cache for your Messaging app in Settings>Apps​.

Thanks! I've tried that. The person who is having trouble receiving my messages is busy for the next while so I won't know if that helps for a few hours.
