why would my phone drain to 0 overnight?

Send the developer some feedback. In the meantime, there's no need for a separate speedtest app -- just open your Google app, type "speed test," and use the built-in speed test there.

Omg thank you!!! So for whatever reason my speedtest app was using crazy amounts of battery and not allowing my phone to sleep. I had no idea! I'm charging again now and hopefully after deleting the speed test app things will be better now. Odd I've had that app on my phone the whole time... no idea why it freaked everything out now?!
Do speed test from the browser that way it's not another app on the phone.

Great... Glad that worked and identified the "Culprit" for you! Not sure why it was hanging on you but after what you had been through with the battery, dumping the App was probably better than trying to troubleshoot it...
