Wi-Fi Only useable as phone?

Now obviously I can download apps like TextFree or Skype to make phone calls to other phones but I was wondering if there was a way to connect it to my Android phone and use that as my gateway for phone calls.

You could use GrooveIP which works through your Google Voice number.

I guess that would be an option I was more looking for use of my own number.
