When you turn on the Wi-Fi it seems to turn off the 4G. Is this true??? If so, it could save a ton of battery!

for some reason when my wifi is on i still see the 4g or 3g up on the top banner there with the up and down arrows. isnt that supposed to be gone once i enable wifi?

You still need the 3/4g for voice calls.

Sent from my Froyo Fascinate using Tapatalk.

So then from a battery sparing standpoint would it make sense to just leave Wi-Fi on all the time regardless of if you are able to obtain a signal?

My understanding is yes. When WiFi sleeps then the 3G/4G will come on to do work(non-voice work) but when you're on WiFi then those radios shut off and you save battery. WiFi is much more battery efficient than 3G/4G.

You might have your wifi on but your not connected if your still seeing 3g/4g in the notification bar. Go in settings and wireless connections and in wifi settings you can choose what network to connect too.
