Widget Locker app. Worth the $?

I was reading a thread on a different site about this app. I'd seen it in the past but never really cared about the idea of putting the widgets on my lock screen.

But now seeing these themes that you can pop on there are great.

XDA : [THEMES] WIDGETLOCKER | Theme Collection | PIMPED OUT WITH THEME INDEX! - xda-developers

Is this worth the money. How useful is it. Also most importantly (some) other apps like this have just put an extra screen that I have to unlock to get to the regular unlock to get to the phone. I don't want an extra step to unlock. Will it just unlock all the way.

Much appreciated!

Yes, it's worth it. The app modifies your lock screen where you can add widgets and use them without opening the phone. On the negative side adding themes is a manual operation. You've got to DL them and move them to a widgetlocker subfolder. And so far I've only been able to use the sliders.....I don't see the themes themselves as illustrated in the XDA thread. Perhaps it's because I'm inpatient and haven't read the FAQ thoroughly. :-[

It's worth it, though I found it to be somewhat buggy on an Evo. Rare but the bugs eventually convinced me to get rid of it entirely and use stock.

Yeah all i can get is the slitders, i want the whole themes myself. i love the WidgetLocker, just bought it yesterday! here is my new setup vs the Galaxy S puzzle Pieces:

It consists of the Fancy Widget clock/weather app and then my custom sliders using the Android Theme sliders and changing the icons using Launcher Pro Icon pack

Using on my thunderbolt. I love it. VERY rarely will it show both lock screens. I'm talking 1 out of 50 times ... Maybe.....

Transmitted through 4G via Thunderbolt

I use LockMenu. it has 9 customizable sliders. I never had any problems with it until the GB update. Now I do occasionally get my original lockscreen after using the lockmenu slider

I have it on the my touch 4g. It does get buggy sometimes but I enjoy it way better then my stock drag down lock.

I thought it was really nice, but it doesn't play well with apps that disable the lockscreen, like Unlock With Wifi or even Tasker.

I decided than it?s much better having no lockscreen (while in my safe places) than having a fancy one.

I'd say it's worth the few dollars. I like to customize as much as possible and, in terms of the lockscreen, it is very simple and easy to use.

There are a few quirks, a quick read through of the dev's thread in XDA would shine some light on them - or the Market comments. For example, if you want a lock on the phone you have to use the pattern lock or else you have to go through the actual phone lockscreen before getting to, for example, the PIN lock. Some people have had issues with CM7 and running themes and it wiping the widgets off after a reboot ... but that specific issue may have been fixed. I've heard of people having issues with the Atrix fingerprint scanner do-hicky as well as trackball to wake things. I'm not sure how much of that has been updated as I haven't seem much talk from the dev in the thread. Some little quirks are the result of Android underlyings and things that the dev can't necessarily 'fix.' At least not at the moment.

That said, I have an Evo and it has never really given me any issues. The pattern lock bit is my most annoying part, but I only ever have a lock on certain days / nights.

It's definitely worth checking out if you don't want to simply change the unlock image / different wall / multitude of widgets or shortcuts from the lockscreen.
