WIFI Always Scanning and reconnecting... draining battery

Hi I have a problem with my phone... I only use Wifi at home, and 2 days ago I woke up to a dead phone, I did not know why it had died. Yesterday I came home from work with a battery fully charged.
While I was using the phone I noticed a popup that kept telling me I was connected to my wifi. I didn't think much of it, until I noticed my battery was at 39% 4 hours since I've been home. SO I went to the Wifi Screen and noticed it kept scanning and connecting over and over again. I finally just turn off the wifi. The phone has been restarted since this started. Any idea how I can fix this?

All of my other devices at home are working fine on the wifi.

Thanks,
Karleen

I am going to make an assumption that your phone has previously connected to your home wifi without incident?

Often that behavior can indicate that your router isn't handling DHCP correctly, and the phone (or whatever device trying to connect) never gets an IP address and continues to cycle. Devices already connected are not affected because they already have assigned IP addresses. Usually a reboot of the router (in most cases, unplugging/replugging the router to power cycle) will fix this.

Your problem may be something else...but this is the first thing I'd try...

I'll agree that if you're in the Settings -> WiFi menu, you'll see that about every 7 seconds WiFi shows ' Scanning' as it updates the current list of SSIDs.uploadfromtaptalk1350434732367.jpgBut that appears to be normal behaviour for this phone. I don't see it connecting/reconnecting, though. The only time I see that pop-up that you're referring to

is when I wake the phone up from a screen off state or if I turn WiFi on and it connects.
So I'd have to suggest that your battery issue is due to some other app running amok. Have you looked at the Settings -> Battery page to see what it shows? It should be a screen something like this that shows the major power users.uploadfromtaptalk1350435488471.jpgSent from my rooted, debloated, deodexed Sinclair ZX-80 running CM -0.001 using Tapatalk 2

Thanks paintdrinkingpete, reseting my router and that took care of the problem. I've had the phone since July and it's been connected to my home Wifi since then, I had no problems up until a few days ago. As GSDer showed the wifi pop-up I was getting that every few minutes. Left my wifi on overnight last night and battery was not drained this morning and I'm not getting the pop-ups anymore.

thanks for the help.
