WIFI at home

I've noticed as soon as I get home, and my device connects to the WIFI, notifications, emails in particular, seem to be delayed (a few minutes here and there - Outlook.com & Office 365 email).

So, the question is, would it be my WIFI that has some weird issue, or is the device merely suffering a delay in checking for new items when connected to WIFI\my WIFI?

The only thing that seems to be immediate, are text messages. But, that isn't going over WIFI, is it?

Do you have some kind of delay set or periodic check set?
Mine starts check immediately when I pull in Makes for an occasional annoyance sometimes if I forget to turn the sound notifications off.

No, for email it is set to instant. I often hear my iPad beep with new emails. And then after a few minutes I hear my Note 5.
But, in testing, if my WIFI is off, the iPad and Note 5 are virtually dead on.

And, I know my WIFI is working, since the Missus is either watching Netflix of I'm using the Xbox One (Fifa or GTAV, Online)...

Sometimes if not all times it is your wifi, I had to have a Comcast rep come to my home and check wires etc, he gave me a "booster" box and also a new router.
Now I feel like a have better wifi reception.

check your email sync settings. Depending on the software it can be set to check anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours. If the interval is too far apart then shorten it in the settings menu.

That's your answer, I believe. Texting moves across your phones wireless network, and is not shackled to the jumps and hops that happens through a wifi network, even before it gets to you. I see the same thing here, so its certainly common for this to happen.

A little off topic, but I have trouble with wifi at Starbucks.
I get promoted to disconnect from it if I want to access the Internet.
Maybe there's a wifi bug with the N5.

I just checked my email settings like others have suggested. I noticed that I had Sync Schedule on. I've sinde turned it off, let's see what happens...

Or maybe there is an issue with that particular Starbucks wifi. Does it only happen there?

Check Google Play auto update options It has option like 'auto-update only Wifi connect'
