Instead of the HD symbol on the top left hand corner, you'll see a wifi symbol during the actual call instead. Also shows a wifi symbol like you mentioned in call logs as well.

Looks like what's happening is that it's defaulting to Wifi even when I have one or two bars of LTE showing. I was just on a call and could see the little arrows under the Wifi icon working away. On my call history, calls I've made from the house (good wifi) have the wifi icon and calls I've made on the road don't.
Nothing I'm worried about because I'm getting great call quality. I was just curious because my assumption was that it would only go to Wifi when there was no cellular signal. Maybe it has a way of choosing which is best.

It picks whatever is going to provide the best calling experience. When you only have one or two bars, phone tries to use wifi whenever it can.

With Wifi and HD calling enabled (on VZW) Is there a way to tell in real time if my phone call is being transmitted over Wifi or LTE/CDMA? I've notice in my call log that some calls show up with an icon that looks like Wifi, too.
