Wifi Connected but no internet ?

- My s6 Egde connects to wifi but no Internet connectivity, while 4G works without any issues.
- No problem from the Wifi end because I've another phone and it connects just fine over wifi.

I have hade som problems with my Wifi before using my Iphone that forced me to restart the wifi on my Iphone, but it worked when i did that.

I tried to restart my router, modem and phone wich made it work but not for long. So the issue is that it connects fine to the Wifi but i dont have any internet.

any suggestions?

The first thing that I would check is identify what IP address your router is assigning to your phone. You may need to re-do your credentials on the router also.

Also check the wifi encryption on the router. Some routers are implementing TKIP differently than Android does, so you have to use AES (not TKIP+AES) encryption. (Some Linksys routers won't even work that way - to use them with an Android phone, you have to replace them with something else. The Netgear WNR2000 works and is cheap.)

So yesterday my friend came over with his new Samsung s6 edge and connected to my wifi. We both where connected but the difference was that he could surf and i couldn't.

I checked his status and IP and noticed he had a nother IP . he had 85.230.42.167 and i had 192.168.8.02 or something similar.
I restarted the modem , router and my phone and i managed then to get the "right" IP that worked but then my friends Samsung got my problem, he got the "wrong" IP and couldn't surf .

So at this moment my Wifi worked a couple of hours but is back to getting the wrong IP again and doesn't work. Really frustrating.

So this tells me its a router problem right? I have a Netgear Gigabit Home Gateway EVG2000.
Update* Just ordered the Netgear WNR2000
