WiFi Connected but not???

OK then... just recently come across this problem, and not sure where to take it from here.

Ever since I updated to Your Mom, my WiFi has been a little....testy. I'm aware of the whole on/off deal with pretty much any Android device, but normally just a quick off/on WiFi toggle would fix it. So far it hasn't. Any time I connect to WiFi, my phone ceases to send/receive data. I've done the toggle, I have "forgotten" the connection and reset it. I've went into the router and disabled MAC filtering, and even went so far as to make the connection open (albeit briefly), but nothing has borne any fruit yet, leading me to believe it isn't an error with my network. The computer I'm on is on a wireless connection too (5ghz, but still same router) and no issues there.

Any ideas?

I would suspect the ZVH radio image, but I'm loathed to blame everything that happens to a phone that has ZVH on the radio image. Unfortunately, every problem my phone has while running ZVH is fixed if I use ZVD instead, from wifi issues, telephony connection issues, gps fix issues, battery issues, touchscreen issues to the buttons acting strangely. I'm hoping that my dishwasher issues were only a coincidence...

You can try making a nandroid backup and flashing a different rom or downgrading to the ZVD radio and trying either Reborn Rom or thekravens CM7 ROM. Reborn is stable but dead and CM7 is somewhat stable (I don't have any issues) and still somewhat alive.

I'd noticed the wifi issues - and was wondering if it might be Kernel related... I was tempted to flash back to the 06 kernel that came with the "your mom rom" and see if it's fixed... I've basically been living without wifi since I noticed this because if WIFI hung, the cellular modem gets fouled up too...

I experienced some sort of ip stack fubar... Where I had to reboot to get things back to happy... I haven't been trying to replicate... Guess I should try and see if I can get it to manifest again....

My wifi died on me as well but I rebooted and it works again, for now. May be a zvh radio issue I had one with the original OTA update. And my phone did unmount my SDcard a few times today and I know that was also an issue from sprints OTA failure.

Are you running Juice Defender or other battery saving app? I had a similar issue when I updated to GB. Every time Juice Defender would turn off the WiFi, the WiFi would not turn back on. I unloaded Juice Defender, and I have not had an issue since.

i had a problem where it would sometimes have zero bars but would actually work...is that your problem? If so I somewhat figured out how to get it back without rebooting (but it might have been just my case)

when i had zero bars things like my browser and facebook still worked but gmail didn't

Ok, I've managed to get it up again, don't know what happened, but I get it to work about 1 in 10 times of rebooting/toggling my WiFi. No battery savers installed unless it came w/ the ROM. Also noticed a random glitch with Bluetooth when I'm in the car. I normally use it and Winamp for a radio because music in the area is something I dare not say for fear of admin reprisal, but after about 10 minutes or so of playing (leaving screen on, leaving off makes no difference) the BT sudden stops working. The phone says it's still connected, but no audio comes through.

I'll turn off the BT unit then toggle the phone's BT off, and when I wait for it to shut off, it will hang the entire system up and force a hard reset (battery out and in). I've managed to replicate this 8 out of 10 times, but no idea what's actually causing it. Doubt its the BT unit, as anyone else can connect fine with no problems.

Zvh sorry. Long day. I had the WiFi issue once but just rebooted and running smooth now. Did you figure it out by chance?

ZVH radio on both phones I'm working with... I actually haven't had an issue with my phone in the last day or two while putzing around with it...

I've had a couple of instances where something has happened and the end result is that data seems to be dead... both 3G and wifi... only fix is to reboot. I thought it was wifi... or something to do with "your mom rom" because that's what I run.

However, today my wife's phone end up without any 3G connectivity on grom - a reboot resolved the issue.

At this point, the common denominator would be the v8 kernel... which fixes so many things...

IF it happens again, I'll try and grab a logcat - today I had her reboot her phone so it could get to a usable state again.

Yeah, I've been using it. Only issue I was having that it seemed to fix was the whole screen shifting issue I'd mentioned in a different thread. My dad has an Optimus too (stock everything though) and he's been complaining that his data is messed up too (wifi or 3g). I know a reboot can fix it when 3g goes out on me, but the WiFi drops, and its 50/50 at best. Bluetooth is still fubar though.

Any word on sprints "official" fix for their GB fiasco? Besides the downgrade to froyo of course.

Have you considered going back to zvd? Shouldn't have any issues with radio/ data problems. Or maybe wait for HydroROM to see what sweetness comes next.
