Wifi is Off but still recieving

hi there, my wife has a Samsung galaxy tab a 9.7 s.pen and loves it but it seems to have 1 little quirk.
When she turns off the Wifi at night, she still recieves notifications, messenger notifications, ie when wifi is off, im having a conversation on messenger and she recieves the whole chat whilst wifi is off, but it also comes up with on the screen "connected to".

how do i stop this happening because during the night her Tab is beeping away with notifications and lighting up the room AND the wifi is turned off... i should add this tab is Wifi only and doesnt have mobile data.

Settings/wifi then top right corner press for options, and set wifi on even when sleeping to never

thanks for the reply, unfortionatly, weve just tested it and it still came through with messages, its really really wierd because the Wifi is off, but she is still receiving messages i or anyone else sends to her through the notification tray, its something i dont understand because in theory if wifi is off, there shouldnt be any connectivity, but these beggers still keep coming through

Turn on Do Not Disturb mode in Settings with a schedule.
