Question WiFi Networks - annoying bug - help!

Hello,

Recently my Android phone is switching to mobile data despite my home WiFi being available and WiFi set to on VidMate .

In these instances, when I go to the WiFi settings the usual available networks list is completely empty. I then toggle WiFi off and on, at which point all the networks are found and it connects to my home network. Any ideas why this could be happening?

Have you rebooted the modem and wireless router yet?
Checked for dead areas around your home?
In settings, do you have use cell data prioritized over wifi selected, or vice versa?

Welcome to Android Central! In addition to methodman89's suggestions -- are you using wi-fi extenders? In my experience, those can be pretty wonky.

Also, see if the problem persists in Safe Mode, which temporarily disables any 3rd party apps you installed. If the problem goes away in Safe Mode, then the problem is likely due to an app you installed. You can learn how to boot into Safe Mode by doing a web search for "[your phone model] safe mode", or tell us which phone you have and we can let you know.
