WiFi problem

Can anyone suggest a fix for my WiFi problems please. Until a software update a few weeks ago I was able to connect to my home WiFi, but now the while it shows as connected to my modem in the settings, the WiFi icon does not appear at the top of the screen, the 4g icon is there and I am now using load of my data allowance. Help please!!!!

Thanks for the reply, (I don't know how to reply to that so I am updating my original post). I have tried resetting both the phone and the router, but still not able to get the phone to use WiFi. I am wondering if it's a hardware problem.

Forget the connection and set up again. While you are at it reboot the router.

Can you connect to any other wifi?

Thank you both for your help, much appreciated. I have now sorted the "problem". I have just run a speed test which showed I am connected to the router, but for some reason the top of the mobile home screen just shows the 4g icon, so it's something to do with the software update of last week. Thanks again for your replies.
