WiFi question/issue

When I try and turn on my WiFi, it connects to my home network but then obtains IP address.. connects, and does that over and over. So in short, it connects, drops, obtains ip, connects, etc etc. So very annoying because I can't use my WiFi. Any quick fixes for this? The signal is strong and other devices work with no issue(currently on a laptop and connection is fine). So, why is my phone doing this? Phone is new, 2 months old. Thanks

It could be that it doesn't like the security you picked.
Also, did you set the router up to only serve a select number of IP addresses?

I've seen this behavior as well...at my friend's house and both hers AND mine do it. It's a Netgear router. I set it up and while it is password protected it is not mac filtered.

I can connect to my home network just fine.

Someone somewhere posted that they just assumed they had a slow connection and were futzing with the router and changed the channel...and suddenly they had very fast speeds. Do you think this could be a channel conflict or channel issue?

Has your X connected to any other wifi?

Please secure your wireless network, for your own good.

I can't speak for the OP, but I can tell you that my network is secured as is my friend's that I set up...mine is mac filtered, hers is not. My X connects to my Network and other networks fine. But her X and my X both are unable to connect to HER network. She has a laptop at home that connects just fine.

Yeah, I was speaking to the OP. They stated they did not have any security setup.
I have only tried my X on my wifi, but I was using a Droid 2 and it connected to several with no problems.
When I setup my networks, in addition to MAC filtering, I always setup how many IP's it serves, and if any more devices try to connect, they can't because there aren't any IP's available.

i live on a street where i'm surrounded by elder folk so i know for a fact my network isn't being used by an outside source so i don't really seeing a reason for having a secure network. neighbors on either side of me are 70+ and they can't work an answering machine so i'm good lol. but yeah, i've connected to my brothers network with no problem. funny thing is, i turned on the wifi earlier and it seemed to be connected for a while.. it seems to be random or something with the obtaining the IP.

People with the means can just drive down the street and pick your sensitive data right out of the air.
