Wifi question

If I leave wifi on all day with wifi not connected, does it drain battery more searching? I know before I was told to turn off so it's not searching but I thought I saw it doesn't now? Any help

depends if you have the settings to search for wifi.
Even if not, it still uses some battery when turned on.
