WiFi Speeds with the Droid X

If it was a bottleneck from the hardware then why would my upload magically jump from a cap-like number (1.5mbps) to what it should be, around 4mbps, when I do certain things on the device? (certain things as in switching tabs while running the benchmark)

I don't have the results here because I did a factory reset recently but I know for sure I was getting ~20mbps down over 25/15 FIOS on their default wifi G router. If I remember correct I was also getting ~6mbps up but I might have that confused with ~1.6mbps(since I don't really care what my up is). I'll try to run it again when I get home and post the actual numbers.

At work I'm seeing 1.3 mbps down and 1.5 mbps up which is actually pretty good for our slow network.

Wow. I have 3.11 mbps down, 0.42 up. What the heck. Piece of crap AT&T!

Edit: Mobile speeds at 323k down, 807 up? WTF

Ya... apparently my connections are sub par... At least I still have killer battery life!

Just ran it (on my laptop), got ~4.8 down and 2.2 up. Then I ran it again and got 2.6 down and 2.1 up. Go figure. Guess it doesn't matter if my X has a cap now :(

I'm on Armstrong Cable at home - my plan is 10Mbs/down, 2Mbs/up. Average of 3 runs posted.

On my PC connected directly via wire through my Linksys WRT54GL (wifi off) I get:

9.76Mbs/down
1.78Mbs/up

On my Droid X over my wifi (Buffalo wireless b/g AP upstairs on our first floor via a D-Link switch) with 2 wifi bars in my basement I get:

5.68Mbs/down
1.68Mbs/up

I'll try to check at my office and post tomorrow - my pipe there is a good bit fatter than at home (same provider though).

I ran the test last night and the highest I got was 20.816mbps down and 1.697mbps up. I did have to change the server to get to that though and I was standing right over the router. I started out with Washington DC which is about 40 miles away then realized there was a Baltimore server which is about 15 miles away. On the DC one I was averaging 16-17mbps and the Baltimore one I was getting 18-20mbps. On upload I was a consistent 1.6-1.7mbps so that seems like the limit on the upload.

I can't even register a download speed on wifi, despite numerous tries. Every one reads 0. wifi works fine otherwise though.

best i have gotten was 16.26down 1.74up and thats broadcasting G only bc that was the only way i could keep my X connected. i pay for 25/15 through comcast but never actually seen those speeds even on my plugged in laptop.

lowest out of 5 tries was

DL speed 17.1
max is 17.1

UL is 4.6
max is 10.4

the best was DL 19.0
max 19.2

upload 4.6
max 14.1

this is over FIOS with the stock actiontec router they give out. Used extremelabs speed test
