Wifi tether doesn't work on Fascinate

First, I know there are other threads that touch on this, but none of them have worked for me. To start, I also had a Droid and a Droid 2, rooted both, had it working on them. This is my 2nd Fascinate. I have rooted both and tried the wifi tether and barnacle (and legacy) on them both. Nothing worked. My laptop sees it, but cannot connect to it. I have searched here, phandroid, other places and googled the hell out of it. Nothing works. I have used the older versions found here Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code. Nothing. My computer is running vista 64. Suggestions? so frustrated right now. Only mod to phone is super clean.

This is a known issue that I'm not entirely sure has a solution to right now. It may be more a matter of waiting for an update to the app that will enable full support for the Fascinate (if it's something the developer can fix).

They work, I would suspect a Winblows problem. Barnacle is more reliable for me. Have used it on OSX, XP and Vista.

I had to Freeze the Hotspot app to get it to work for me.

WiFi tether works perfectly with my MBP but not with Windows 7. Hot spot app doesn't exist on mine so unfortunately that's not a solution for me :/

They do work. I use the latest version with Linux and 7 on my Vaio laptop connecting with BT. Supposedly there is an issue with the 6200 chipset and Wifi tether.

This is true on so many levels. I actually just looked and realized that I'm still running 13, but have had luck with both 9 and 13.

Works amazingly well on my MBP on OS X, but when I switch over to XP via bootcamp, it is very spotty and almost never connects.

Ran into an issue with DJ05 and tethering with Win7.. Previously I was working just fine with DI01 and barnacle legacy. For whatever reason, upgrading the drivers (WiFi) on windows 7 and switching to pre-14 fixed my DJ05 tether issues.

Anyone using windows 7 that is seeing issue, definitely make sure you've got the latest WiFi drivers (especially if it's an intel chip).

It was a bear to tether my fascinate. Never had trouble with any other phone like this one. Update please. After getting my fascinate to work, I was always reconnecting, grrrrr samsung/verizon. The phone is far more capable.

I just had this same issue with Win7 x86 with an Intel 5300 wifi card. Resolved it by upgrading the Intel NIC drivers to the latest version.

Had 12.x version prior, and am now running version 13.3.0.24 and everything works fine.
