WiFi turning on by itself

While traveling, I turn off Wi-Fi during the trip so that Im not interrupted by screen changes. Yet I find somewhere along the line, that Wi-Fi gets turned on all by itself. Does anyone know why that happens? Thanks.

Try putting your phone into Safe Mode, see #1.4 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide, and see if your Wi-Fi turns on. If not, it will be down to one of your user apps or settings.

What impact would the safe mode have on the ability of Google Maps to provide accurate data while traveling. Could Google Maps be responsible for the cycling of wifi on and off?

Safe Mode just turns of user installed apps. Google Maps should not turn on Wi-Fi if you have turned it off.

Thanks. My problem with wifi only happens when I'm traveling and using Google Maps. I guess I'll have to live with it. Thanks again.
