Wifi Won't Switch To Strongest AP

I live on a small acreage and use 2 APs to provide coverage.
My complaint is my S7 won't switch to the strongest signal as I move around my property.
When attempting to access the Internet a page won't load even though I am connected to one of the APs. However the connected distant AP is weak and I'm standing in front of the second AP.

Any suggestions or apps to make my phone drop the weaker AP and rescan to the stronger? I have attempting to lower the output power from the APs so the phone wifi would rescan without success.

I have tried a friends mesh network and notice the same problem. The phone won't release a weak unusable AP and switch to the stronger signal.

Welcome to Android Central! I was going to suggest changing to a mesh router system until I read the last line in your post. Which mesh router does your friend use? I have Google Wifi, which is flawless -- my devices seamlessly switch to the nearest AP as I move around the house.
