Will a galaxy s2 front camera work in a galaxy s3?

after replacing my screen, I seem to have accidentally cut the ribbon for my front facing camera in my galaxy s3. I have an old s2 sitting in my closet in perfect condition and I know the models are similar, but I am I not sure if the front camera in the s2 would work in my new phone.

p.s. neither of my cameras are working just because I don't have the front camera connected, so a speedy answer would be appreciated!

You'd have to check the part numbers, perhaps using a teardown from IFixit, or just Google it.
